PHOTOGRAPHY WORKSHOPS 2013 All workshops will be lead by award winning photographer Jared McMillen. Jared has spent the last 14 years capturing mother nature while working with such clients as National Geographic Adventure, Time, and Forbes magazines, he will personally show you the tips and tricks he has spent years crafting. These intimate workshops will be a must attend for anyone looking to grow as a photographer. Colors of Summer, Southern Utah Location: Brianhead Utah Dates: July 12-14, 2013 Day 1: We will host a meet and great BBQ at a private home, we will cover the schedule for the coming days and get to know each other. Day 2: We will meet early to catch the sunrise at a predetermined location, from there we will venture out and explore the wildflowers of Cedar Breaks National Monument. We will take a break midday and rest up for an evening sunset shoot at the Twisted Forest which sits on the Northern edge of Cedar Breaks National Monument in the Dixie National Forest. The Twisted Forest is the home to some of the most amazing Bristlecone Trees we have ever captured, this location is a true hidden gem of Southern Utah. Day 3: We will meet for another early morning out shooting the wildflowers and several hand selected locations, if conditions are right we'll visit a tiny slot canyon that catches some amazing light. After a morning filled with capturing images we will head back to a private home and review our images. This portion of the day will be focused on editing our images and giving them the final touches in the computer making them ready for print. We will go over and review our techniques used in getting the most out of our images. Participants will be welcomed to share their images with one another and in fact are encouraged to do so during this afternoon session. COST: $600 6 Spaces available. Colors of Summer, Park City Location: Park City UT, Wasatch Mountains Dates: July 19-21, 2013 Snow capped peaks will give way to lush meadows filled with wildflowers as we explore amazing landscapes surrounding the Park City area. Day 1: We will meet at the McMillen's signature Park City Photography Gallery, kicking off the workshop with a meet and great at the gallery. We will cover the topics for the next couple of days and get to know each other. Day 2: Sunrise shoot at a pre determined location (this will be an early morning), the morning will give way to techniques used to shooting in the harsher mid day light. At some point in the day we will take a break and meet again later in the afternoon to capture the amazing evening light found throughout the Wasatch Mountains. Day 3: We will meet at the gallery well before sunrise and head out to a predetermined location to capture the sunrise and morning light. Once we finish we will head back for a break, during the break we will edit some of our selected images and review them when we meet back up at the gallery later in the day. After a morning filled with capturing images we will head back to a private home and review our images. This portion of the day will be focused on editing our images and giving them the final touches in the computer making them ready for print. Picture to Print, Workshop Offered All Year in Park City, UT The Picture to Print two-day workshop is designed to lead you through the entire photographic process from composing and framing a photograph to crafting a finished print. DAY 1: We will spend 3 to 4 hours capturing the best light possible at a predetermined location and develop your skills to compose images and understand the appearance of light. DAY 2: We will spend 2 to 3 hours in the gallery honing your editing & processing skills while learning about image organization and filing methods for photography. A final image you captured from the prior day's photography will be selected for editing and printing, the final print will be given to you as a 16x20 fine art photograph. Participants will be under private instruction by award winning photographer Jared McMillen. Small groups: $500 per person, limited to three participants Digital SLR is required, a cable release recommended but is not required. Picture Perfect, Workshop Offered All Year in Park City, UT This 3 to 4 hour workshop is focused solely on crafting that perfect image. Jared McMillen will share with you his years of experience documenting landscapes while guiding you in capturing the best images possible. The Picture Perfect workshop will be focused on framing in the mountains and valleys surrounding Park City. Designed to be personal and intimate this workshop is for 1-2 people per session. This workshop is ideal for the amateur photographer learning to use their digital camera, but who is also looking to build a strong foundation of knowledge. This workshop is an ideal gift for anyone wanting to expand their photography skills. A digital SLR is required, shutter cable is helpful but not required as are various filters. $350 per person.
